Who: |
Customer Operations |
Why: |
The Timeline of an individual Order shows the status of all related Milestones.
|
Before you begin
The System Administrator must create the generic Milestone Types and Milestone Groups. Then instances of these can be added to Orders and Matter by Customer Operations personnel by one or both of the following methods:
a. Manually by Customer Operations personnel within an Order or Matter. See topic Milestones – Add to Order / Matter for more information.
b. Automatically when the Matter is created (for Matter Milestones) or when the Order is transmitted to the Provider (for Order Milestones). See topics Milestones – Basics and Milestones – Overview for more information on “automatic instantiation”.
The Timeline is not available on an Order until the Order has been progressed beyond the Itemised stage and is ready for transmission to the selected Provider.
Procedure
1. Find and open an Order (or Matter) with Milestones.
The View Order screen appears (or the Matter screen appears if Find Matters was used).
NOTE: The Timeline tab is not visible if you click an Action button to open the Order. It is only visible on the View Order screen (which is accessed by clicking the Order number). |
The View Order screen appears.
2. Click the Timeline
The Timeline for that Order (also known as Gantt View) is displayed.

The Matter Timeline tab (N1) has the same features as the Order Timeline tab except that the Matter is shown (N2) as well as all associated Orders (N3). The Matter and Orders are represented on the Timeline as separate coloured bars (N4).
NOTE: The Milestones button (N5) is used to add/edit Matter Milestones not Order Milestones. Likewise, the Milestone History button (N6), shows the history of Matter Milestones not Order Milestones.
There is a coloured bar for the Matter and each Order on the Timeline. |
3. If there are multiple pages (e.g. “1 of 2”), use the Page Down and Page Up buttons to view each page on the Timeline.

a. Select the “zoom” factor from the drop down list (“hours”, “days”, “weeks”, “months”).
b. Click the Zoom In or Zoom Out button
N3 - The scale of the Timeline adjusts according to the selected “zoom” factor.
a. NOTE: Selecting Zoom factor “hours” causes the following warning message to appear. |
9. To view the Milestones within the Order (or Matter), click the plus symbol.
N1 - The list of Milestones associated with the Order (or Matter) is displayed.
N2 - Milestones that are “chained” together appear on the Timeline with lines linking them. The top Milestone is the Anchor with each dependent Milestone below it.
N3 - “Stand alone” Milestones appear on the Timeline without any linking lines.
10. Click the minus icon to hide the Milestones.
11. Hover the mouse over a Milestone “diamond”. A pop-up shows information about the Milestone.
N1 - This is the only place where you can see what the Anchor Milestone is linked to (Relative To:). In the example shown above, the Milestone is relative to START (i.e. the Order Service Start Date). All dependent Milestones will show Relative To: PREVIOUS (linked to the previous Milestone). |
